Friends of the Park Inc

Community Partnership funding approved for development of the Pukekura Park portal TERRAIN – a portal for information relating to the Pukekura Park with interactive services based upon Geographical Information System (GIS) data.

Preparation for this digital project has proved to be vital. The digitising of community records and using them in a GIS has been through a testing phase; the formatting and metadata standards are being finalised, and the community group will soon be assessing and archiving the priority sources of data. The possibilities of Public Participatory GIS have stimulated great interest, and this has opened up national and international networks; hearing about similar projects, having offers to collaborate, and drawing upon others’ expertise. Solutions have become available to what appeared to be technical difficulties a year ago. The speed of change is exciting, and the increasing availability of professional tools to the community will allow much more efficient data use.

Bishop's Action Foundation

Community Partnership funding approved for Community Sector ICT Capacity Building project to provide a community ICT advisor who will assist and train NFP organisations on a one-to-one basis to develop high quality ICT solutions through needs assessment, training, and resource options. A self assessment and planning tool will be developed for future use.

ICT exists in most, if not all, community organisations, but often has not been planned so new technologies are used to their full and the ICT resources actively support the organisation to meet its objectives. The ‘Making IT Work project’ is helping voluntary and community-sector organisations improve the way they use and access ICT resources through the provision of a workshop series as well as systems and training needs assessments.

New Plymouth District Council

Community Partnership Fund recipients, New Plymouth District Council have created an interactive website targeted at school children and local iwi.

The "Our Mountain" project brought together strands of learning about New Zealand's Digital Strategy. High quality digital film has been produced about the people who live around Mt Taranaki. Schools have been involved in local history projects to record the histories on film and to make them available online. School classes have undertaken filmmaking workshops to learn the skills needed for good quality film production. Some of the film is now available at Taranaki Wiki and the 360° Taranaki film will become part of the permanent exhibition at Puke Ariki.
