Speakers announced for the Digital Future Summit 2.0
The full programme for the Digital Future Summit 2.0 announced by Minister for Communications and Information Technology, David Cunliffe last month, is now available.
The Digital Future Summit 2.0 will explore how this country can maximise "being digital'' to address the challenges of becoming a high-tech, high-value, creative economy and society.
Speakers confirmed at the Summit include prominent kiwi businessmen – Sam Morgan, CEO and Founder of Trademe, Stephen Tindall, Chair of the Growth and Innovation Advisory Board and Andy Lark now residing in USA and who is the Chief Marketing Officer at LogLogic.
To help reduce the Digital Future Summit 2.0 carbon footprint, Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the World Wide Web and Jimmy Wales, founder of Wikipedia and Chris Anderson, author of The Long Tail, will be speaking live at the conference utilising high-speed definition video conferencing technology.
The Digital Future Summit 2.0 is a key forum for the government’s Digital Strategy, says Programme Manager for the Digital Strategy, Janet Mazenier.
“The Digital Strategy is for all New Zealanders, to enable us to realise the benefits information and communications technology (ICT) can bring, whether at work, home or play.
“Like the Digital Strategy, the Digital Future Summit 2.0 has a national focus. At this conference, the government is providing a forum for business and community leaders to come together and have a say in creating New Zealand’s digital future.
“The Digital Future Summit 2.0 will be a platform to enliven the debate about New Zealand’s economic future and how we can maximise being digital to address the challenges facing not only our economy, but the environment, our society and our culture in today’s fast-paced world,” says Janet.
New Zealand Telecommunications companies will have a presence at the Digital Future Summit 2.0 with CEOs from Telecom, Vodafone, Orcon and World Xchange taking part in discussions.
Futuristic technology will support speakers and facilitation of feedback by delegates. The Summit will be web-cast live, and speaker presentations will be available to download after the Summit.
The Digital Future Summit 2.0 will be held in Auckland on 28 and 29 November. Online registrations for the Summit open tomorrow, 1 September 2007 at www.digitalsummit.org.nz
